On September 24, Mayne Elementary celebrated its return to hosting evening Family Nights with “Mayne ROCKS!” At the event, 294 children and 304 family members painted close to 500 river rocks to decorate the school's drought-tolerant landscaping.
To help set the mood, DJ Luisito played rock music while families painted, danced, and listened to rock-themed read-alouds. San Jose Police Department joined the celebration with their ice cream truck and local Alviso restaurant, El Taco De Oro, brought their taco truck to campus.
The festivities were held outdoors, and families had a rocking good time until after dark! The next morning, students arranged the rocks in front of the school, and families have been admiring them ever since.
